Overview
Within the vocational education and training (VET) system in Australia ADAS is a Registered Training Organisation has accredited its courses under the Australian Qualification Framework. ADAS divers are therefore eligible for qualifications like Certificates, Diplomas or Advanced Diplomas which may be recognised as credit towards a higher vocational or university qualification.
AQF Certifcates
Successful ADAS students are awarded an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) certificate along with ADAS certification. This certificate is issued in recognition of attaining a qualification under the national Australian Qualifications Framework and can provide the foundation for progressing to higher academic courses within Australia. It does NOT replace the official ADAS photo ID Diving Licence issued at the same time and is NOT to be taken as proof of current diving or other competence.
Vocational education and training (VET) is 'education and training for work'. It exists to develop and recognise the competencies or skills of learners.
Vocational qualifications are awarded in recognition of the skills and knowledge needed to achieve competency in a particular area, rather than on the type or length of a course that has been undertaken. This means that they make it easier for employers to work out what a person with a particular qualification can do. For more information on vocational education and training, visit the website of the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) (www.dest.gov.au).
