ADAS Fees to rise

NEW ADAS FEE STRUCTURE

It is not at all what we want to do, but due to the increased operating, administration and compliance costs of the organisation, as of the 1st of October 2007 ADAS will be implementing a raise to certification fees. You will note that in general the raise is minimal and we have scaled the new fee structure against the earning potential of an ADAS card and the ability of the card holder to recover the costs of certification.

Please note that in general the rise in fees is minimal and that the system is based on the following general premises:

· separating the initial cost of registration from that of renewal, based on the realisation that the majority of risk to ADAS is in training divers and providing initial certification, and that the risk is substantial reduced in renewing certification

· a general commitment that the fee structure be equitable, reflect fee for service and an acknowledge that ADAS certification provides an entry into a career structure with substantial potential earning capacity

· reflecting the degree of legal liability that ADAS accepts in ‘licensing’ divers and supervisors to enter the workforce and certifying them as competent

· reflecting that divers undergoing initial certification should pay the same fees as those paid by divers undertaking incremental upgrading to the same level (~$300/level)

· an acknowledgment that Part 3 and Part 4 having a substantially greater potential earning capacity than other divers

· an acknowledgment that offshore supervisors having a substantially greater earning capacity than onshore supervisors

NEW RENEWAL FEES

RENEWAL FEE – Except where noted, is for 5 years of certification and is conditional on the applicant demonstrating continued proficiency.
