ADAS Part 4 outline
The ADAS Part 4 is to qualify Part 3 offshore divers in associated activities in the use of diving bells and chamber complexes as a diver or another member of the dive team.
- To be able to dive using a bell and breathing artificial gas mixtures in air range dives and dives deeper than 50 metres.
- To respond to emergencies in the water, bell or chamber when acting as a diver or another member of the diving team.
The programme includes as a minimum:-
- 24 bell lock-outs, acting as a diver
- 24 lock-outs acting as a bellman
- 5 simulated rescues of an incapacitated diver
- 12 bell runs from deck chamber to deck chamber with full transfer under pressure
In addition each trainee must complete the following procedures:-
- 4 chamber pressurisation and TUP checks
- 4 pre dive bell checks
- A simulated gas loss and communications failure
The above training will culminate in the diver being placed into saturation with one dive being completed to a depth greater than 50 metres. During this dive he should carry out two complete bell runs and should have a lock-out time of at least 15 minutes on each occasion.
